Full bio

Ben Hulbert is a New York City singer-songwriter and guitarist making music at the intersection of soft rock, jazz, and pop. His songs pair warm, guitar-led arrangements with direct storytelling—music shaped as much by the quiet details of family, love, and the outdoors as by the energy of playing in a room with other people.

Classical training gave Hulbert a foundation; listening to artists including Bob Weir, Bill Evans, John Mayer, and Simon & Garfunkel helped him imagine what he could build on it. The result is a sound that values harmony and musicianship without losing the human voice at its center.

His latest release, “The Death of My Old Man,” turns toward one of his most personal stories: losing his father. A companion mini-documentary expands the song’s world through the creative process and the family conversations around it. Whether performing with an acoustic guitar or alongside a band, Hulbert’s aim remains the same—to make the room feel a little closer.
